HOW IT ALL BEGAN
Now the fastest growing premium polarized sunglass maker in the world, Maui Jim got its start in 1980 as a small company selling sunglasses on the beach in Lahaina, Hawaii. Seeing a need in the market for technology that could combat intense glare and harmful UV while bringing the brilliant colors of the island to life, our fledgling company engineered the revolutionary PolarizedPlus® lens. Incorporated into seven new sunglass styles, our Classic Collection was introduced. And with that, we have steadily built a cult following.
HIGH-PERFORMANCE MILESTONES
Over the years, Maui Jim has continued to offer our fans high-performance design developments. In 2004, PolarizedPlus®2 technology revolutionized the sunglass market - patented, color-enhancing treatments in the form of rare earth elements were added to our lenses to really pop the colors your eye takes in.
In 2006, our new 24,000 sq ft state-of-the-art direct surfacing lab was built to ensure precision prescription optics. A year later, we introduced MauiReaders®. MauiPassportTM followed in 2008, offering prescription wearers wide views and outstanding acuity. That same year, our new MauiHTTM lens brought clarity to low-light conditions.
IT’S ALL ABOUT THE VIEW
The Aloha Spirit permeates our philosophy at Maui Jim. Our “ohana” (Hawaiian for family) is passionate about creating the best sunglasses on the planet. Because at the end of the day, we want to see the world at its best - and we know that you do, too, no matter where you live. Aloha, friends!

Kona Brewing Company was started in the spring of 1994 by a father and son team who had a dream to create fresh, local island brews made with spirit, passion and quality. It is a Hawaii-born and Hawaii-based craft brewery that prides itself on brewing the freshest beer of exceptional quality, closest to market. Kona Brewing Company is proud to support the Maui Jim Triple Crown of SUP. Stand up paddling is one of the fastest growing recreational sports in the world, and it's also an important part of Hawaii's history and culture - it has just taken the rest of the world a while to catch on! The sport is such an integral part of life in Hawaii that Kona Brewing Company dedicated its latest beer to it. Koko Brown coconut brown ale, new to the lineup of bottled beers this spring, features vintage artwork depicting a stand up paddler on the calm waters of Maunalua Bay.

From the rural island of Molokai come extraordinary premium coffees. Our 500 acre plantation and mill in the village of Kualapu‘u is the only source of 100% Moloka‘i coffee.
As a producer of high-quality coffee in Hawai‘i, we are in tune with, and at the mercy of the environment in a big way. Our plantation depends on timely rainfall and stable growing conditions. Whether it's protecting watersheds and reef systems in Hawai‘i, it's important that we do our part to protect not only our land, but also to respect and nurture the land and the ocean that surrounds us. We support organizations that malama the land and sea and partner with events that give back to a cause!
When we're finished with our tasks at the plantation, we too find ourselves enjoying or competing in the ocean, from paddling outrigger canoes, to sailing channels or swimming across bays!
Coffees of Hawaii is proud to partner with Handsome Bugga Productions in Triple Crown of Stand up Paddling! We'll be here at the finish line with a cup of good coffee waiting for you! Best of Luck and enjoy!

In the seventies, back when Brazil had 90 million people, its coast wasn’t really explored. Only fishermen used to live at the farthest beaches. Surfing wasn’t really seen as a sport, but as a lifestyle that only a few people had the benefit of having.
In order to experience the best waves and map the coast of the country, a surfer had to be a nomad. In the search for adventures, this “tribe” was in contact with fishermen’s handmade villages. One of those was Garopaba, Santa Catarina.
Garopaba was the perfect example of this scenario and that´s where this journey began. The perfect waves that existed (and still exist) around the area attracted Dr. Marco Aurélio Raymundo to the village and pushed him away from the big city. He moved to that distant place, which didn’t even have electricity or doctors back then.
Everything was going fine; he had a job at a health center and surfed in his free time. However, it got colder when the winter came. While the temperature got lower, the waves became better and better as well as more fascinating. However, being in the water was impossible because of the low temperatures of the ocean, below 18 degrees Celsius, not to mention the cold wind that blew sometimes from the South, coming from Patagonia, other times from West, bringing the freezing air from the mountains of Santa Catarina.
Bizarre inventions like wearing sweaters and sipping some “cachaça” (Brazilian white rum) didn´t really help. That’s when Morongo took the initiative to tailor himself a neoprene piece of clothing, in the garage of his wooden house, located on the beach.
In that moment Mormaii was created, 1975, even though the brand was only registered years later, in 1979. With the Military Regime in power, Brazil was the target of a protectionist policy that didn’t allow imports, favoring the scenario of growth of Mormaii neoprene clothing.
This creation offered the opportunity for all Brazilian surfers to have their own wetsuit for surfing, without having to depend on foreign brands. Even the fishermen became customers, getting something useful to help them on their daily work during the winter, at the beach or lagoons.
Mormaii went on to sign as its slogan “your brand in the water”. The brand of every Brazilian in the water. Along with the history of this surf brand, surfing in Brazil was also gaining ground, getting many fans in the 80’s and even relying on an organized professional Brazilian Circuit.
At this same time, other modalities of action sports emerged powerfully, such as windsurfing and bodyboarding. Mormaii also provided the same standards of comfort of wetsuits to fashion clothing for men and women, also providing accessories and equipments for athletes of all kinds of alternative activities.
Along these three decades, Mormaii has been expanding in many sectors, even faced with a series of crises that the country went through; Mormaii overcame the difficulties and entered the 21st century vigorously, with experience, and with a mix of products greater than 5 thousand items.
The growth of the brand went beyond Brazilian boundaries and seduced clients in countries that have the highest quality standards.
Having competitive prices and the highest quality of raw material, Mormaii opens more and more space among big corporations, without ever losing its essence, which is about the ocean and nature.
Until today, Dr. Morongo holds the position of CEO of Mormaii Group and keeps surfing and practicing many action sports, with the equipments developed by the brand he created.

Tri Paddle Maui was born out of another business that I have been doing for over 30 years, Maui Marking Device. Maui Marking Device manufactures custom made self-inking rubber stamps and also produces Laser Engraved corporate awards. One of the items that I used for corporate awards was Koa Paddles. I would laser engrave logos and just about anything my clients would want on the paddle. Paddling canoes has always been an interest of mine and a neighbor of mine who knew this made me a Koa Paddle. I laser engraved a logo of the club I had been paddling with, (Lae Ula o Kai) and my name on the paddle and displayed it in the window of my store front on Market Street in Wailuku,Maui.
One day some kids came in because they saw the paddle in the window and asked if I could get them paddles for a regatta coming up. And of course I couldn't.
But then a thought came to me and after some research and planning and talking with my wife Marcella, Tri Paddle Maui was born and that was in 2002.
We took half of our existing store, moved Maui Marking Device to the back and created Tri Paddle Maui in the front.
We got into the Stand-up paddle market when it first started. As a matter of fact we were one of the first stores to sell Jimmy Terrel's Quick Blade Stand-up paddles in Hawaii.
With all the Stand-up stores here on Maui, we made a decision to focus on outrigger paddling but we still do sell stand-up blades when our clients request it. And we also support stand-up events. We have done Awards for the Olukai event and are currently working on The Stand-up Triple Crown event coming in July.
